This holiday weekend we are visitng my family in Lebanon, Tenn- a smal town outside of Nashville. Our first stop was to pick up some water skis for our weekend festivities. After that we headed to Lebanon, and found our way to the Chop House. The Chop House is a restaurant/bar that has been around since the early 1990's where the locals all know each other by name as well as the bartender James. He is always wearing a smile and has stories of days past.
The house started as a military academy and was later purchased by the gentleman that started Cracker Barrel. The house has not changed at all- its dark and cozy, there is a large fireplace in the bar, and the wood floors creak when you pass through a room. I loved it!
The beer was cold and priced right- only $2.25! What a bargain!
The stories that were shared were well worth the price of the beer. My mom introduced us to the story of 4 ducks- yes- this is what we discuss over beers in my family. Heck, they do live on a lake in rural Tennessee. It's actually a very sad story where 4 ducks were all besties- and one day- 1 duck got outcast from the group and is randomly attacked by the other 3.( I have witnessed this- its quite sad). The theory on this is that the duck might be handicapped-we are going to this focus this weekend on what that handicap might be. Not sure what other stories will come out this weekend over beers- but you can bet they will ALL be good!
