Our Guys and Us Dolls

This past Saturday afternoon my sister and I convinced our guys to see an afternoon musical. My mom starred in musicals during her high school years and from the moment my sisters and I were born- we were singing show tunes and watching musicals constantly. Whether it was cleaning our rooms or taking a car trip- those were the songs that moved us along. ( I even have a few on my run list- embarrasingly enough)

So, when "Guys and Dolls" was announced it was coming to Dallas- we had to go and see it. And what a show it was! The actors were amazing, the songs were fun, and the story line appealed to both females and males. And that's not the only thing the guys loved----the concessions were allowed inside the theater. (Very European) So, at intermission- we had to try out the pocket thermometer and it was nice not having to rush through the drink in 15 minutes. I loved enjoying my cocktail throughout the 2nd act- and I know the guys did too!

The best part-besides the amazing show- was the temperature of the beer. It was COLD. It was a nice 41.2 degrees- and that is a great temp for a theater. (So glad that I have that thermometer now- such a gem)

Trust me- there are many reasons this is a great date idea- I wish I had discovered this sooner!

Well, It's now Official

I am so excited to share that I have purchased the "waterproof pocket thermometer" this past week to measure the coldness of beer. I know that I have a pretty good gauge- but know that many of my readers would love to put a number to the coldness. Starting today, I will embark on a new mission of ranking the beer not only by the the way it tastes to me- but now by the temperature of it as well. Happy Beer Drinking!

...And One to Grow On

There are many reasons I love celebrating anniversaries.

1. Celebrating our wonderful life together and an amazing man and husband.

2. Remembering such a happy, happy day.

Yes, I am leading a conga line with a bud light

3. Receiving BEAUTIFUL flowers.

4. Enjoying delicious wine to celebrate the years together and the many more to come!

Yep, anniversaries RULE! Can't wait for the next one! Only 362 days to go.....

There's no place like The Pub

There's really no place like home.  A cozy chair to lounge in, pictures of friends and family, great music, and memories to last a lifetime. The comforts of home also include family, friends, and loved ones to share good times.
The University Pub is a place where many feel similar sentiments. The chairs are comfy, the setting is dark and cozy.  There are pictures of days past lining the wall that can take a person hours to stroll through to find one of him or herself (which is worth the stroll). The jukebox is one of the best in town- where every night finds a way to end with "Sweet Caroline". You always remember the times that you have there and you always remember Dave. Dave, the best bartender/owner in town, truly embodies the spirit of what one expects from a bar owner, giving his customers the "Cheers" experience.

When you are in college, the only place you want to go visit is home. When you graduate college, the only place you want to visit is The Pub. It's no wonder when our friends come over to Fort Worth from Dallas that this is the first place they want to go. Well, that, and the cold beer.

BOB'N IT

My mom texted me a few months ago, (yes, she does text- because she has to- the only way to communicate in rural Tennessee) that her and my dad were on the boat for a ride and were "bob'n it". My response- that sounds fun- of course, I had no idea what "bob'n it" was. So, later she asked if I knew what that was- of course not....so.......what is it?

"Beer on the Boat".

See, I come by my love for beer honestly.

This past weekend my whole family got together (sister Lindsey and her husband Kyle, sister Terri and her boyfriend Chris, mom Kim and dad Richard) at my parents house in Lebanon, Tennessee. They have a beautiful house on Spring Creek- which is a little cove off the Cumberland River. This river is one of the most beautiful rivers I have ever seen, lined with tall, gorgeous trees. We were all there together to water ski, cook, go boating, play games, and just enjoy each other. It was a fabulous weekend. And, of course, "Bob'N it" was part of the weekend as well.

We had a combination of of Bud Light and Yuengling. Yuengling is America's oldest brewery and you can only purchase this beer east of the Mississippi River. Beer was the perfect compliment to a weekend full of water skiing, fishing, and floating the river.

And, duh- the beer was cold.
